I have recieved a letter from Springdales school for a Teachers workshop "The social Context of Learning" - Education for a multi cultural society. Sabeena, Ranjani and I will be speaking on Stereotypes and television serials on July 4th 2002. St Mary school is still looking for people to talk about films, television in the end of June. Dear friends:

On wednesday we had another meeting of the school workshops group where some of us talked about the Aaj ke Naam initiative and our follow up meeting etc. While everyone there welcomed the fact that documentaries could be used for schools and especially for school teachers,  the principals of many schools have requested people to come and make presentations on the representation of communalism in popular culture (films, TV, advertisements etc). They also would welcome A/V presentations. This is request for volunteers who would like to do so with existing films/clips. Shohini, Sabina and me are coordinating this for the group. There is an immidiate request from Springdales for July. Springdales will also  help us coordinate sessions with a number of other schools. These sessions would be an hour or so in length. Do write back with suggestions for films/ideas/presentations.
