The folklores and folk songs from the remotest part of the country may
soon get global recognition. Thanks to a professor and his students at
the Indian Institute of Management (IIM-A), who are planning to
provide a virtual stage to showcase latent talent from distant parts
of culturally endowed India.

Anil Gupta, professor at IIM-A has plans to create a portal for
creative people from the interiors of the country. The portal, to be
created by the professor along with his students, aims at providing a
medium for the unsung heroes, who possess a barrage of cultural
knowledge.

The portal will be an attempt to present the untapped folk lores,
songs and other traditional talent from the remote yet culturally rich
parts of India to the world.

"There are about 250 million people who fall under the Below Poverty
Line (BPL). If we can give them a platform, their ethnic knowledge and
unbound creativity can be mapped. We are trying to get the government
to get some mental work for the underprivileged people.

The belief that these people have always been given labour work and
not been engaged in any kind of creative work itself shows the
bankruptcy of the government. The government's assumtion is that the
deprived class has hands and legs but no head. We are planning to
create a market for the unsung heroes and heroines of the society by
tapping their creative talent," Gupta said.

The revenue generated through downloads from the portal will be
directed towards the benefit of people.
