NEW DELHI: The government is planning to set up
low-power community radio stations in FM mode through
local communities, non-profit organisations and
educational institutions (Universities) for
educational, cultural and economic development of
specific communities during the Tenth Plan Period.
The Tenth Plan outlay for the ministry of information
& broadcasting is Rs 5,130 crore including a
departmental budgetary support of Rs 2,380 crore and
internal and extra-budgetary resources of Rs 2,750
crore. The special package for improvement of DD and
AIR in the North East has also been included in this.
