New Web site for RN Music

Some of you will already be aware of the work of our music 
department, as we've sent out numerous Radio Netherlands CD's 
as prizes in recent years. Now, the Music Department has opened 
its own Web site. It features the broadest mix of Dutch music, from 
Classical to Jazz to Pop and Rock to World music.  

This Web site will help you gather information about the Dutch 
music scene and Radio Netherlands' role in it. We have an 
extensive Catalogue of CD productions, which you can browse, and 
information about our Concert Series and our Dutch Music Weeks 
around the world. You will be able to listen to music, read Behind-
the-Scenes interviews and Biographies of artists, and consult 
Concert Agendas for bands and orchestras as they travel to your 
part of the world. Currently you can read details of the "Going 
Dutch" week on 5-12 October. Radio Netherlands Music, together 
with NOS Radio 4, BBC Radio 3 and MuziekGroep Nederland, 
introduces the first Dutch Music Week in two countries, the 
Netherlands and the United Kingdom.

These are the headlines of the stories we've covered this week:

If all goes well, Radio Okapi will fire up its three 10kW Marconi 
shortwave transmitters in Kinshasa on Monday 30 September.  

Against a background of disappointing subscriber numbers, XM 
Satellite Radio has unveiled a pocket-sized portable receiver.  

The Committee to Protect Journalists says that since 22 September, 
authorities in Ivory Coast have been jamming the broadcast signals 
of local FM stations that relay programmes from international 
broadcasters.  

The number of Internet subscribers in the Republic of Korea had 
risen to 9.81m as of the end of August, which represents 67.7 per 
cent of households.  

On 29 September 2002, AWR/Adventist World Radio Europe will 
broadcast a special edition of its Italian programme Radiomagazine, 
about the 53rd Assembly of the European Broadcasting Union in 
Naples.  

Newly established Azad Jammu Kashmir Radio Mirpur started its 
formal test transmission on Tuesday 24 September.  

The Deputy Director General for Administration at the Liberia 
Broadcasting System has requested the Director General to 
reinstate a group of LBS employees who were suspended several 
months ago.  

BBC World Service programmes in Spanish will now be heard on 
five FM and AM frequencies right across Guerrero, in the south of 
Mexico.  

Franklin Moliba-Sese, the Radio Okapi journalist arrested in 
Gbadolite by the Movement for the Liberation of Congo (MLC), was 
released on 21 September on the decision of the prosecutor.
