Jeunesse Anti-SIDA/ Radio Liberte, Cameroon
They are a group of young journalists in Cameroon campaigning to get young
people involved in the fight against HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted
diseases. They are hoping to set up their own Radio Station in which 50% of
programming will focus on the fight against HIV/AIDS.

Samo Development Organization (SDO), Somalia
SDO was established in 1999 and it has been working the field of HIV/AIDS
and Reproductive Health in Somalia.   SDO works closely with five radio
stations to which they supply HIV/AIDS programmes.

Earthwatch Radio - Programmes available
This environmental outreach project at the University of Wisconsin-Madison
(Wisconsin, USA) produces 260 two-minute radio programmes per year on
science and the environment. Distributed free of charge to broadcasters on
CD or via email, the programmes are designed to provide radio stations with
objective information on science and the environment.

International Day of the World's Indigenous People 2003
August 9th is International Day of the World's Indigenous People. 1995-2004
is also the International Decade of the World's Indigenous People.

The world's population of indigenous people now numbers some 350 million
individuals representing over 5,000 languages and cultures in more than 70
countries on every continent.  Their material, environmental and spiritual
situations, together with their world-views and intimate relationship with
the land and natural resources, are particularly vulnerable to the effects
of globalization.

If you are thinking of making a programme about indigenous people's issues,
take a look at our collection of materials that might support your work. If
you are making a programme or are planning a special broadcast for that day,

Earshot Media Production Course
July 30 - September 5, 2003
Sussex, United Kingdom
Earshot, a media training organisation, offers free training for unemployed
people aged 16-26. During the 3-day course trainees will learn how to make
and present professional radio programmes and gain general media skills. The
aim is to raise the employment prospects of those who attend.

Communications policy training programme in Budapest
August 17 - 29, 2003
Budapest, Hungary
Twenty-five representatives from Central and Eastern Europe, the Caucasus
and Central Asia will get to participate in a 10-day program on information
and communication technology (ICT). The Stanhope Center for Communications
Policy Research is offering the program in cooperation with the Open Society
Institute (OSI) and the Markle Foundation.

OneWorld AIDS Radio

The OneWorld AIDS Radio site now has a new campaign, "Youth and AIDS", timed
to coincide with International Youth Day on 12th August. Young people are
crucial to discussion of the global AIDS pandemic, and hold the key to
reducing its impact. If you have produced a programme on Young People and
AIDS in the past, please upload it to the OneWorld AIDS Radio website, or
email aidsradio at oneworld.net with details of events, new projects or
resources surrounding the issue in your community. We will highlight it in
our "Campaigns" section".

TIPS
================================================

Audio upload:
- The preferred format is MP3. Real Audio format is also accepted, but no
other formats.
- We advise you to choose the following settings for digitising audio: mono
channel, 16 bit, 22 050 sample rate, 64 Kbps FM Radio Quality Audio, or
choose .wav in the Save As Type field, while choosing MPEG-Layer 3 in the
field Format. Save this file on your desktop. When the file is saved, go to
your desktop, right click on the file, go to Rename and change its .wav
extension into .mp3. This allows you to save slightly longer programmes,
even though it might affect the sound quality a bit.
- The file size limit is 3.6 MB. If your files are bigger than that, please
split them in different parts.
- If the upload does not work you can contact us at radio at oneworld.net

Member details:
- You can change your member details: After you logged in by entering your
username and password in the login box in the top right handside corner,
you'll see the box changed and displays the name of the contact person and
your organisation. To edit your organisation/contact person details simply
click on the name of the organisation.
- We would like to encourage you to ensure that your description includes
the most important aspects of your work, links to parts of your websites (if
you have one) that are of particular interest, an outline of what kind of
audio you produce, or what your main areas of interest are, so that other
members can learn more about you and possibly get in touch with you. In case
