You could do better, Fred. At the MICA conference, Anshuman from I&B, 
who handles community radio, told us that the ministry had written to 
the WPC clarifying that they had no objection to the kind of low-power 
FM transmitters we used at Oravakal. Sajan can tell us better what was 
said. It does not, however, seem to me that anyone would be put in jail 
for using lpfm.

I have asked Mr. Garg of WPC for written confirmation of this position 
of the government. He promised to write in a couple of weeks.

The media has taken little interest in this debate. Perhaps an article 
or two, talking about how important low power FM is for the poor, and 
how the rich are already doing frivolous things like karaoke using 
similar cordless mikes with impunity...
