Dear all and Mr. Sagari Chhabra,

> what information/communication they could possibly extend>

Its more than information that is/can be extended via HAM radio in disater area. Infact HAM operators are the first to know about the disaster. An licensed operator in the affected area goes on air, communicates the nature of disaster, this mobilizes HAM's who leave immediatly to the location.

1. A Network of HAM radio operators set up communication posts that may dot the disaster area and request/coordinate 'requirements like food, clothing, shelter or other aid like medecine', to hard hit area from relief agencies
2. They coordinate search and rescue operation by requesting or prioritizing the effort to hard hit pockets.
3. For example a HAM operator who is a medical doctor can request for specific medecines depending upon the disaster.
4. If data transmission (photographs) on the frequency specified by ITU is allowed the relief agencies can be more prepared before hand, like what type of aid, equipment and manpower is needed.
5. Ham radio equipment/scanner connected to laptop can obtain weather data to forewarn people of any emergency or adverse situation.
