Media and Communications Officer

The Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative (CHRI) is an independent, non-partisan, international human rights NGO based in New Delhi, India, working for the practical realisation of human rights in the countries of the Commonwealth. The focus of our work is on projects in two areas: Access to Information and Access to Justice. For more information, please visit: www.humanrightsinitiative.org

CHRI is currently recruiting a Media and Communication Officer, to be based in Delhi. Remuneration is dependant on qualifications and experience, but is expected to be around Rs.15,000-18000 p.m., as well as insurance and other benefits according to office policy. 

Responsibilities include:

·	Media liaison and networking, including developing and maintaining contacts in the media in India and across the Commonwealth for the enhancement of CHRI’s  programmes and visibility.
·	Prepare, edit and oversee publication and dissemination of the quarterly newsletter.
·	Prepare, edit and disseminate the quarterly e-magazine on policing
·	Manage the content of the website, including regular updates
·	Prepare the Annual Report and other communications materials as necessary
·	Edit reports and articles prepared by programme staff as necessary
·	Assist with workshops as necessary
·	Develop a media strategy and associated workplan, and report on progress periodically
·	Promote publication of human rights articles in the media and other publications
·	Maintain an up-to-date database of media contacts
·	Other tasks as required

Person Specification 

It would help if you are a post graduate in journalism and English with at least 4-6  of proven work experience in handling the above tasks.
