one station for at least one month, and up to two months, working 
closely with Afghan staff in all aspects of radio station operations, 
but with a specific focus on radio production and journalism. A 
local translator will be provided if necessary. Minimum term of 
employment is one month, with preference for two. Working 
professionals encouraged to apply. Salary negotiable.

Specifics of the job include: 

- teaching fundamentals of radio production to Afghan staff. 
- teaching fundamentals of journalism to Afghan staff.
- working closely with radio station managers to design programming 
schedules.
- helping stations define listenership interest and community 
relations.
- liaison with other organizations in the region, such as 
humanitarian assistance and international organizations.
- assisting the station on questions of sustainability.
- research into media needs and potential pressures that 
could influence the stations’ independence.

QUALIFICATIONS 
Required: at least three years experience as a radio journalist 
and/or producer.
Required: willingness to work and live in difficult environments.
Desirable: working knowledge of Dari or Pashtu.
Desirable: experience teaching journalism and/or radio 
production.
Desirable: experience working abroad, preferably in Central 
and/or South Asia.
Desirable: media management experience.
Desirable: university degree.
