[cr-india] Suggestions for digital audio recorders

Hmm, there isn't really a problem working with any of these recorders 
with GNU/Linux because as long as the USB port is supported, the unit is 
usually recognized as an external storage drive. The problem only arises 
if there is a specific software required for the transfer - like Sony's 
SonicStage for the MiniDisc recorders - which has proprietary 
algorithms, which may not be available in a GNU/Linux compatible form. 
(There may now be, but i'm not sure.)
I think the best way, Aravind, is for you to isolate some specific 
recorder models and ask around; or, better still, if you can borrow 
someone's recorder and connect it to your system and check whether it is 
recognized. I'm 99% sure most digital recorders would work just fine in 
terms of transfers - and I suppose you already play back MP3s and wav 
files, so there should be no issues.
Editing the audio is another matter - I know Audacity has a GNU version, 
and I think there's a software called Sweep for GNU, but have never used 
it. Not sure what other softwares are currently available for that 
platform. Fred?
