It is great to see the overwhelming interest in Regional/state level
Consultations on Community Radio (CR). These regional or state level
consultations are envisaged as a space to inform potential CR
broadcasters (Registered societies, NGOs and other civil society
organizations and educational institutions) the possibilities of CR in
the context of the new policy. The consultation will discuss issues
like community participation, ownership and program production;
discuss the various technology options; share experiences from
existing CR programmers; discuss the potential and limitations in the
new policy; adopt a self regulatory code of practice; capacity
building etc

It is therefore very important that each Consultation organizer(s)
have a good understanding of the new CR Policy and are experienced in
community radio programming, production and training. All the groups
(and this is not an exhaustive list) listed in my earlier mail are all
experienced in one or all of the above matters. When you write in
with your interest in organizing such a consultation it will immensely
help other groups in the region if you mention your experience in CR.

A large number of organizations (close to a hundred, in fact) have
expressed interest in becoming members of the CR Forum. We will get
back to each one of you as soon we have worked out the criteria for
membership. In the following weeks, there will be more mails on the
CRF.

In harmony,
Stalin K.
