Dear Mahesh

There are also " Freeplay Solar Powered Radio " which can be put to use .
A “Freeplay Solar Powered Radio” was given to Radio Banasthali to check its
efficiency, battery back up, back up from solar Plate and receptivity of
radio signals in the remote area. This radio was initially tested in 4
villages in a radial area of 15-25 kms in District-Tonk, Rajasthan). This
radio set is liked by the community because it is easy to handle, light
weight, neatly designed listener friendly radio which has no recurrent
expenditure. Its receptivity in the remote area is excellent and it has a
very clear sound quality. Its battery back up in one time charge is
approximately 50 minutes. Back up through Solar Plate is also convenient
and user friendly.

Dear mahesh,

Seen your mail for FM radios for tribal areas or communities. Why not try
radios without batteries so as no maintenance cost after buying to the
poor people. Radios with mechanical spring work as energy for radio to
operate as old time clocks is to work. Philips is to manufacture but as
their is no demand they stoped production, I think!

Please do survey about it and it may be quite useful to the tribal people
to listen for long hours without any money to spend on batteries. This is
an idea can be implemented, lets process it please.

with kind regards,
