Jonathan Spence is giving this year's Reith Lectures on BBC radio. For
those of you who cannot listen to the broadcasts, there is  the usual range

Professor Jonathan Spence is one of the world's leading authorities on
Chinese history.

Professor Spence was named a Companion of the Order of St Michael and St
George and in 2006 a Fellow at Clare College, Cambridge.

He was elected to the American Academy of Arts and

1985 and was named a MacArthur

Minds; and God's Chinese Son* (1994).
