PUDUCHERRY: Tune into FM 107.8 and what you get to listen is Pondicherry
University's educational broadcasts in another two months. It is a community
radio with a reach of 12 km.


"Through the channel, the university had plans to provide educational and
learning resources to students and public in Puducherry," J.A.K.Tareen,
Vice-Chancellor of the university told *this website's News Paper*.

He said steps had been taken to prepare audio-based learning resources for
students and the channel was expected to conduct many interactive sessions
with public.

The university was in the process of establishing a studio equipped with all
amenities for phone-in programmes. In addition, innovative radio programmes
for locals would be organised to enhance their health, business, cultural
relations and competence, he said.

The station will initially broadcast programmes in Tamil, English and French
for three to four hours in the forenoon and repeat them in the afternoon.
University faculties and the affiliated institutions will participate in
programme.
