Dear All,

On behalf of the communities of Budikote and nearby villages, MYRADA staff,
and VOICES, we are very happy to announce that Namma Dhwani, in Budikote
Village, Kolar District, Karnataka, has finally got its Wireless Operating
License (WOL) after a long struggle and wait.

MYRADA received the WOL on 16th of December and is currently concentrating
on building tower, and renovating studio infrastructure.
With a long history of cable radio, loudspeaker narrowcast, school radio,
extensive SHG participation, excellent governance and gender sensitive
programming,
Namma Dhwani is all geared up to start broadcasting.

Since 2003-4, Namma Dhwani has been making 90 minutes of programs on a daily
basis., and not only has a huge database of usable programs, but also has a
library of jingles, station IDs and Public Service Announcements (PSAs).

The date for launch has not been decided yet, but will be announced shortly.

The Namma Dhwani team is currently attending workshops and training
programmes, facilitated by Maraa as part of the IPDC-UNESCO project,
2008-09. The other stations under this project are Vikalp Radio, Jharkhand,
Radio Bundelkhand, MP and Kumaon Vani, Uttarakhand.

Wishing Namma Dhwani great radio days!

Cheers
Team Maraa
