Dear Satishji,
Sorry for the delay in responding to your mail.
I would like to clarify that Ujjas radio has not gone on- air officially,
and we have also not announced since we are yet to get land clearance for
it (If we announce it now, it may create difficulties for us specially in
region like Kutch).
When it gets on-air, It would be most gratifying for team of Ujjas radio in
announcing it to you since all of you have always been together ans
supported us a lot. So, It can't get on- air without sharing this wonderful
news to all of you. So, when we go on- air, we would send e-mails
immediately to friends like you and we would also invite you for the
opening ceremony.
I agree with issues raised by you and i also feel that the
initial objectives of CR movement are slowly dying away. And representation
of community leaders is slowly getting lesser from the movement,
specifically women leaders also.
All of us had dreamt that models of CRS are created which are low cost and
are being run by community only.
Another gap is that continual dialoguing and reflection is also not being
done which has also slowed the movement. many issues of advocacy are also
remaining, which should be taken up so that presence of community is again
visible.
I agree that the movements of CR and "Campus Radios" are completely
different. when consultation of UNDP was held, the same issue was discussed
that "Why community radios are required if campus radios are present". In
this response, we had worked out on pros and cons and identity of both. I
think both are working for community's voices, but it's main objectives are
different. For all this processes, a space should be created by CRF to
bring more clarity through discussions and dialogues.
