[cr-india] Ideosync Media Combine's CR Consortium for Environment Protection gets cracking in Uttarakhand!

Dear all:
As many of you may know, over the past year, as part of our Grassroots 
Mediascapes initiative supported by the Ford Foundation, Ideosync has 
been working with CR stations across Uttarkhand to develop their 
capacity around the theme of environment and disaster response. The 
coalition of these stations, known as the CR Consortium for Environment 
Protection (CRCEP) comprises the CR stations Henvalvani (Chamba), 
Kumaonvani (Mukteshwar), Pantnagar Janvani (Pantnagar), Radio Khushii 
(Mussoorie), Radio Zindagee (Dehradun), and Radio IIM Kashipur.

I am delighted to announce that on the 16th of June, 2014 - the first 
anniversary of the Uttarkhand Disaster that claimed so many lives last 
year - the consortium partners went on air with their first programmes 
on these themes...the beginning of a long term CR based intervention to 
engage with their communities on issues ranging from forest rights and 
laws; land use; river mining; dams; spring water recharge; sustainable 
development in the mountains; RTI; and disaster prevention, response and 
management.

We'd like to salute the members of the CRCEP, and the mentors and the 
partners that worked so hard to help the teams develop a thorough 
understanding of the issues involved: Pragya, Chirag, The Third Pole, 
TERI, Down to Earth, Shri Ramesh Kumar Mumukshu, Shri Sujit Chakraborti 
and Shri A.S.Negi. Thanks also go out to the Ford Foundation for having 
the vision to support this far reaching intervention that will impact so 
many lives in the state of Uttarkhand and beyond.
