[cr-india] New CR Training manuals by Ideosync Media Combine / UNICEF

Dear all:
As part of its long-standing engagement with CR capacity building, 
Ideosync worked with UNICEF India between 2007 and 2014 to set up CR 
stations in Lalitpur (Lalit Lokvani, UP), Shivpuri (Dhadkan CR, MP), 
Koraput (Radio Dhemsa CRS, Odisha) and Dibrugarh (Brahmaputra CRS, 
Assam). In all four cases, Ideosync designed and conducted extended 
training programmes for the local community members who eventually 
became their respective CR stations' core teams. The training programmes 
expanded on Ideosync's previous work with Henvalvani CR and Mandakini Ki 
Awaaz CR in Uttarakhand, as well as its work with Gurgaon Ki Awaaz CR 
(Gurgaon, Haryana); and covered a large range of subjects from setup and 
technology decision making, to content development, research, scripting, 
programme production (recording, editing, post production), community 
outreach, sustainability and feedback.

As an extension of the training processes at these UNICEF supported 
stations, Ideosync collected these training inputs into a comprehensive 
training manual for community radio stations entitled 'COMMUNITY RADIO: 
Learning the Skills'. The manual, written by Venu Arora, has just been 
published by UNICEF, and is available at this link:

Simultaneously, Ideosync also developed a handbook for Indian NGOs 
explaining the basics of setting up a CR station, and the planning and 
decision making that underlie this process. The handbook explains the 
licensing process, as well as the preparations the NGO has to make in 
terms of deciding the location, content and other key parameters of the 
CR station - as well as philosophy of community ownership it must 
espouse in order to make the CRS a truly community-owned and -managed 
local media resource. This handbook - also authored by Venu Arora, and 
entitled ' COMMUNITY RADIO: Basics' - was also published by UNICEF 
recently, and is available at this link:

Ideosync has also previously developed 'CR: A User's Guide to the 
Technology', a layman's guide to the technology of community radio for
