Radio Brahmaputra 90.4 FM, the only civil-society led CR station in the
North East, has fallen silent due to rising flood waters and disruption of
electricity supply. Run by the Centre for North East Studies and Policy
Research (C-NES), Radio Brahmaputra signed its GOPA earlier this year, but
it's not clear if they have their WOL yet. Let's hope they get back on air
again soon.

Floods ravage Assam once again. The Brahmaputra Community Radio Station
(BCRS), run by Centre for North East Studies and Policy Research (C-NES)
from Dibrugarh's Maijan Ghat along the mighty Brahmaputra is now under
flood water. Broadcasting is halted temporarily for now and disruption of
electricity supply.

The river along with several of its tributaries are overflowing
embankments, breaching them at several places, flowing above the red mark
in Dibrugarh and Nimatighat (Jorhat) in upper Assam.

Most of the Boat Clinic operated by C-NES are affected. However, the health
camps are continuing in few districts including Kamrup, Nalbari and
Bongaigaon assisting local administrations in flood relief work.
