PC. Laptop or desktop. Old or new. You get more bang for your
buck on a desktop, but you can do a lot on your laptop too.

computer.

* Software: comes in at No 2.
Pro Tools. Logic. Studio One. Qbase. Unendo. FL Studio. Reason.
Sonar. Some programmes are Mac only, some are PC only.

* Your audio interface. This box replaces your mixer. This is
like your converters. mike Preamps, monitoring... all in one
box. Costs $100 to thousands of dollars. Take analogue sound,
convert it into a digital signal. This is the centerpiece of
your studio.

* A good microphone. Large diaphram condensor microphone.

* Monitoring: start out with a pair of studio headphones.
Semi-open or closed back.
