In the City, Out of Place: Book Discussion

A book discussion on *‘In the City, Out of Place: Nuisance, Pollution, and
Dwelling in Delhi, c. 1850-2000’ *authored by Awadhendra Sharan would be
held on 17 October 2014 at CSDS. Discussants: Mahesh Rangarajan, Kaveri
Gill, Ravi Sundaram. The discussion would be chaired by Shahid Amin.

This book is a contemporary history of environmental issues in Delhi. It
traces the journey from the engagement with sanitary matters in the
nineteenth century to issues of air and water pollution, waste and toxicity
in contemporary Delhi.

*Mahesh Rangarajan* is the Director of Nehru Memorial Museum & Library.

*Kaveri Gill* is Chief Economist at Oxford Policy Management, New Delhi.

*Ravi Sundaram* is Professor at Centre for the Study of Developing
Societies.

*Shahid Amin* is a Professor of History at University of Delhi.
