Re: [Reader-list] did the internet just change?
Yes,
There have been so many changes during the past year
it is difficult to collate them all. Most I would say for the better.
Perhaps the way to characterise what's happening now, with changes being
implemented seemingly suddenly as the market picks up is to say that
Internet has moved froman IT subculture led agenda, a technology
development agenda, to a media and communications led
agenda, a usership, market, cultures set of agendas. This is more or
less to be expected for around this time 2002-3 as electronic publishing
becomes a reasonable percentage of overall media publishing output.
The degree to which Indians were or were not consulted over this
and other changes is very much a question about whether or
not Internet at this change in state represents the present growth
in usership. The public and private sectors in the West would
be foolish to overlook the opinion and e-media of India.
