The Asia Research Institute of NUS invites applications from ASEAN citizens (except Singaporeans) enrolled for a fulltime advanced degree at a university in an ASEAN country for consideration as ASEAN Graduate Research Scholars.

The Programme is intended for graduate students working in the Humanities and Social Sciences on Asian topics, and will allow the participants to conduct research at NUS for a period of three months.

The aim of the Programme is to enable scholars to make full use of the wide range of resources held in the libraries of NUS and the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies (ISEAS), and to interact with NUS academics and fellow ASEAN scholars. The Programme will commence on 1 May 2006.

Successful candidates can expect the following benefits:

a. A monthly allowance of SGD$1750 (inclusive of housing allowance).
b. A one time travel subsidy of up to SGD$1000 on a reimbursement basis upon being accepted for the fellowship.
c. Access to library and computer resources on campus.

Applicants are invited to email/facsimile/mail their curriculum vitae, a 2-page research proposal in English to the address below by 15 December 2005. Arrangements should also be made for at least two letters of reference, one of which from your principal supervisor, to be sent confidentially to the same address by the same deadline.

The research proposal must include the following details:
