Apologies for cross-posting.

FD Zone Delhi in collaboration with India Habitat Centre invites you to a
screening of films produced by Films Division on Thurdsay, October 3, 2012
at 7 pm in Casuarina Hall, India Habitat Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi

The screening will be the launch of the Delhi Chapter of Films Division's
FD Zone Society. FD Zone Delhi will showcase works of moving image, from
different genres and time period. With this launch, we hope to add to the
multiple conversations around film-making practices.

These short films can be seen from various perspectives - as cultural
artefacts; as historical documents; as State propaganda and its subversion;
as an account of the birth of a nation and of "nation-building”. These
films reveal the sobriety and playfulness of new aesthetic voices, which
engage with the State and yet gently question it. They are markers, in some
ways, of “momentous events” of post-Independent India.

I] NEWS REEL 067, 1948/5 min/ B&W/ English

II] THOUGHTS IN A MUSEUM, 1968/S. Sukhdev/20 min/ B&W/ English

A film based on the Teen Murti Museum, built up through old newsreels and
documentaries of the Films Division on Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru for the
youth of India.

III] KEEP GOING (Badhe Chalo), 1971/S. N. S. Shastry/4 min/ B&W/ English

The film urges people to keep doing whatever job they are supposed to do.

IV] NAYA DAUR, 1975/S. N. S. Sastry/English/9 min/ B&W/ Hindi

A backgrounder showing the state of affairs which eventually led to the
proclamation of Emergency by the Government of India in 1975.
