CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
180 Seconds per City
DEADLINE: Sunday, 11 January, 2015
64 short films, 180 seconds each, 16 cities – the 180 Seconds City project. Initiated by the Goethe-Institut, the project is an intercultural kaleidoscope of hyperlocal anecdotes. Filmmakers can apply now.
Background:
What does the rickshaw puller in Kolkata dream about? Where does the woman cyclist in Bogota stop for a rest? What does the taxi driver talk about when driving through Paris at night? Filmmakers from all over the world look at their city from a perspective not found in any travel guide: individual, original, unexpected and unembellished. 180 Seconds City gives us hyperlocal anecdotes, a kaleidoscope of cultures, a global snapshot of the city. The films are aimed at culture- and internet-oriented city dwellers and non-city dwellers who are interested in the stories of a city beyond its tourist facade.
The Project:
The three-minute shorts (180 seconds) will be produced in the language of the country with German and/or English subtitles. All the films will first be available on www.goethe.de. They can then be shared and circulated via the partner’s website and the Goethe-Institute’s social media channels. The Goethe-Institut will provide a grant towards production costs.
