[Urbanstudy] Invitation to the Press Conference on the Delhi CDP

Dear All,
 
I would like to invite you to the press conference regarding the
non-involvement of the people of Delhi in the drafting of the City
Development Plan (CDP) under JNNURM. The press conference is on Friday, 16
March 2007 from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm at the Press Club of India, Raisina Road,
New Delhi 110 001.
 
The panelist at the event are : 
1. Dr. S C Vats - MLA, Congress
2. Mr. V C Tandon - President, Delhi Residents Welfare Association Joint
Front
3. Dr. Shreekant Gupta - former Director, National Institute of Urban
Affairs and Professor, Delhi School of Economics
 
The Delhi CDP was prepared by IL & FS Ecosmart for the Delhi government
after perfunctory consultations before the CDP was made but none on the CDP
itself. To make matters worse, the Delhi government has refused to make it
public in the response to an RTI request for the same.
 
The following needs to be done immediately:
1. The CDP needs to be brought back and put in the public domain
2. It needs to incorporate the suggestions of all stakeholders
3. The revised CDP should be sent for approval.
