 Architect, urbanist and researcher Rahul Mehrotra will be in conversation with cultural theorist and poet Ranjit Hoskote, discussing architecture, urban cultures and India during the last few decades. They will refer to journeys and practices they have shared, as they have worked and engaged with the city's cultural and urban research spheres. The conversation will begin with a reference to Mehrotra's recent book Architecture in India since 1990 (Pictor. 2011).

 Directions to Arbour:
 
If you are anywhere near Flora Fountain, Central Bank Building, New India Assurance Building, Kandeel Restaurant or Bombay Stock Exchange you are near Arbour. From any of these landmarks find your way to Fort Post Office on Ambalal Doshi Marg (Hamam Street) or Military Cafe, Amrapali and then Milan Coffee House on Nagindas Master Road. On Ambalal Doshi Marg (turning left from Milan Coffee House on Nagindas Master Road) the entrance to Karim Chambers is between two ficus trees, and a panwala nearby. One (east) end of the Ambalal Doshi street is Bombay Stock Exchange the other end first building is Karim Chambers.
 OR: On the road that connects Flora Fountain and Kala Ghoda there is New India Assurance building (opposite Standard Chartered Building) with the figures of the farmers in stone - beside that is Kandeel Restaurant with a Juice stall next to it. Come in the lane/gulli next to Kandeel. End of that gulli, across the road you have Amrapali and (to right) Milan Coffee House. From Milan turn left at that corner on the road that leads to Bombay Stock Exchange. On that road first buildng to your left is Karim Chambers - at the entrance are 2 ficus trees, and a panwala.
 
Come to the first floor and we are right there.

Admissions open for the Ideas in Architecture Theory seminar programme. This six-month teaching programme beginning January 2012 is an introductory course in architetcure theory that engages with issues of practice and criticism, history and theory, in the broader field of architecture and architectural studies.

Spotlight on Istanbul - Two young architect-researchers, Stephan Shwarz and Ingrid Sabatier from the ISSSresearch (Independent Structure for Sustainable Space research) doing a comparative survey and study of Berlin, Istanbul and Mumbai, will present their research and experiences vis-a-vis Istanbul and share some notes on their observations of comparisons.

Collecting, Seeing - Screening of Kiran Rao's film Dhobi Ghat (Mumbai Diaries) followed by a disucssion between Kiran Rao and Kaiwan Mehta. This screening is in event of "The Street, and the Studio..." an exhibition of Kaiwan Mehta's research studio presented and organised by The Guild Art Gallery, Colaba. The screening starts at 4:30 pm at The Guild, and is in collaboration with Arbour.
