[Urbanstudy] Please join protest against non-recovery of encroached lands

Calling all individuals, NGOs, Residents' Welfare Associations, etc. to
join the continued protest at Town Hall from 10 AM to 4 PM against land
grabbing led by Mr. H. S. Doreswamy, Mr. A. T. Ramaswamy and Mr. V.
Balasubramanian. Mr. Ramaswamy says that there are 20,000 acres of
government land that are encroached in Bangalore by creating fictitious
documents and 4 lakh acres in entire state worth Rs. 2 lakh crore which is
more than the 2G and Coalgate scams.  He is demanding that a special court
should be set up to try these cases and the land recovered. Unfortunately,
the Prevention of Land Grabbing Act that was passed by the Karnataka
legislatures seven years ago is still awaiting consent of the president.
 That no government has been pursuing the matter with the Centre shows
their indifference to the issue, Mr. Ramaswamy says.  In fact, he has a
written document from the government which states  that they cannot act on
the encroachments as very powerful persons are involved in it.  There is a
need for as many individuals and associations to lend support to this
protest as it involves public land which could be used for so many social
purposes to benefit local communities.  I am attaching a few photos of the
protest.

You are also requested to organise protests in each of your wards at lands
/sites / CA sites which have been grabbed to draw attention of the
government. One of the Satyagrahis is willing to come and address your
protest at ward level to lend support to you.
