Our Modi ji always talk about China and ask us to compare ourselves with
China, now it is a high time to learn from China.
The idea of circular economy is not an alien one for many in India. Oota
from Thoota is an outcome of same thinking, where waste organics become
compost, food is grown in soil rich in compost and the circle continues.
In Nayandahalli, you can find more about Nayandahalli
www.wastenarratives.com, we found something similar, plastic films,
packaging material, are availed from big malls by sorters in Nayandahalli,
after sorting in local godowns, it goes to reprocessing units where it
becomes pellets, those pellets are used for making the same films again -
because of the age old technologies, those newly manufactured films from
raw materials are inferior in quality. A thorough research to look at the
'informal' waste economy's potential in creating circular economy needs to
be on the agenda as priority.
