   - The Citizen’s Charter mentions that if the department concerned is not
   able to provide the services to the citizens within the stipulated time,
   they will be entitled to seek compensatory costs of Rs 5 per day after the
   deadline ends up to a maximum of Rs 100.

*Chandigarh, September 8*
The much-awaited Citizen’s Charter of the Municipal Corporation (MC), which
will fix responsibility of MC officials for delivering services in within
the stipulated time, got the nod of the councillors at a General House
meeting held today.

The Citizen’s Charter mentions that the if the department concerned is not
able to provide the services to the citizens within the stipulated time,
they will be entitled to seek compensatory costs of Rs 5 per day after the
deadline ends up to a maximum of Rs 100.

The councillors have recommended that disciplinary action should be taken
against the officials concerned in case they fail to meet the standards of
the Citizen’s Charter 20 times.

The councillors recommended that the failure to meet the standards of the
Citizen’s Charter should be highlighted in the annual confidential reports
(ACRs) of the officials concerned.

The agenda to pass the Citizen’s Charter was passed by the House on an
assurance that their suggestions will be included.
