hello jhelum,
nice to hear from you. your note reminded me of my talkative bengali friends. Infact, addas brings to fore the spatiality of friendships and conversations. Probably food and travel facilitate or rather breed and nourish the hospitable stagnancy of addas .it will be interesting to explore their spatiality which might turn out to be the spatiality of friendships in a climate of political uncertainty and volatility.
A comparable thing in history would be the French salons hosted by women in 18th century which served as meeting points through out the 'enlightenment'. They provided an ambience- singing , painting, drinks and discussions and the madams who hosted these salons were extremely influential. it will be interesting to know who discussed what in addas and about conflicts within them.
hoping to hear more about your research
cheers!
