Dear all:
Ideosync Media Combine is delighted to announce that the first episode
of its new 52 episode radio series Sheher Ki Ore ("Towards the city")
safe migration radio programme will go air tonight on All India Radio FM
Gold (Delhi and Mumbai). The programme will also be available on AIR
Najibabad and 1307 ASIADEV channel on the Worldspace radio network.
Directed primarily at migrants from UP and Uttarakhand living in Delhi
and Mumbai, Sheher Ki Ore will be heard in both source and destination
areas, and will run till June 2009.
The programme can be heard on All India Radio's Najibabad Medium Wave
station 954 kHz (8 pm IST on Fridays); AIR FM Gold 106.4 MHz Delhi
(10.05 PM IST on Fridays) and AIR FM Gold Mumbai 100.7 MHz (9:30 PM IST
on Fridays). The programme will also playout thrice a week on 1307
AsiaDev on the Worldspace network, primarily for listener groups set up
by Ideosync in the hills of Uttarakhand as part of its partnership with
Hevalvani CR in Tehri Garhwal, and Mandaakini Ki Awaaz CR in Rudraprayag
[Thursdays 8 PM IST/UTC 1430; Sundays 2 PM IST/UTC 0830 (repeat);
Tuesdays 10 AM IST/UTC 0430(repeat)]. AsiaDev is a free to air channel
accessible to anyone with a Wordspace radio unit.
Sheher Ki Ore contains useful nuggets of information for migrants on
lifeskills, travel tips, livelihood, employment, microfinance, SHGs,
workplace regulations and rules, worker rights, health, and money
management. The programme includes a radio drama component that focuses
on the events in a young man's life as he moves to the city in search of
a better livelihood, along with reality bites from people in source and
destination areas on issues related to migration. The programme also
includes a letters section, a messages home section, popular songs, and
folk songs by
community members. The reality sections of the programmeare have been
recorded primarily by members of the Hevalvani and Mandaakini Community
Radio Groups in Uttarkhand; and by the community reporters trained for
this project by Ideosync in Delhi and Mumbai. All primary decisions in
terms of programme design, key programme components, formative research
and feedback design have been developed in collaboration and in
partnership with the community members from Uttarkhand and from the
Uttarkhandi migrant communities in Mumbai and Delhi.
Sheher Ki Ore is being produced by Ideosync as part of the Ford
Foundation supported New Voices Safe Migration project, currently being
implemented in Uttarakhand, Delhi and Mumbai. The project is implemented
in partnership with Equal Access International as part of the Ideosync –
Equal Access India partnership.
We look forward to suggestions and inputs from everyone - comments are
welcome!
Warmest regards,
Ram
